Well it was a crazy feeling, all of these families in this large room. We were only there for a little bit when Mr. Li told us our daughter was there already, and asked us if we wanted to meet her. Of course!!! So we followed him to another area and we saw her in the play room. We recognized her right away, and she seemed happy to see us as though she had been prepared and maybe recognized us from the book. It was so amazing to finally see her. They had her hair all done up so pretty, and she was dressed super cute!
Then it got a bit awkward as she came out and sort of ran right by us as though she would rather be elsewhere. The orphanage people there talked to her a bit and brought her back to us. When she came back, Heidi got out a dress up girl magnetic set (courtesy of Nenny) and she looooved it. Thanks so much Nenny! It really got her interest and it wasn't long after that she was sitting on my lap and playing dress up. When she first decided she was going to just sit down on me to play my heart melted. I could have sat there with her for days. She is so beautiful and capable, and she just giggled and giggled while playing there.
We then had to sign some agreements and ensure our information was correct on some forms. Mr. Li also showed us a copy of a newspaper announcement that was ran after she was abandoned. Apparently they do that to ensure no one will come back for her before putting her up for adoption. He is supposed to be translating that for us. Seeing that document was surreal. Here I was with this amazing gift from God, and someone else, for whatever reason, had let her go. I don't say that to pass judgment, as I don't know the circumstances. I just know that I could not imagine ever letting this girl go, EVER!!!
The orphanage people answered a few questions for us, although they didn't have a lot they could share as she spent more time with her foster family. They were very sweet people though and we are so thankful for anyone who has cared for this angel up until this point. Honestly, after seeing how amazing she is, I just keep thinking we just need to make sure we don't cause her any major setbacks with all of this transition.
The time since meeting her has been amazing. I'll share more videos and details later. :)
So glad she enjoys the magnetic doll but more excited about the gift you found in one another. Can't wait to watch that gift flourish and flourish with the love of a forever family! Sending love and hugs half way across the world! Love, Nenny
ReplyDeleteHow awesome! I would be soooooo nervous! I was nervous watching the video! You both write very well in describing what is going on, makes me almost feel like I'm there in a way.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom and Nenny. It really was some day. And Tom, we were nervous, and as Heidi says, more of just uncertain of what to do and how it would go. Hard to describe really. We were just happy she was not miserable and crying, and that she warmed up to us. We love sharing this extremely awesome experience with everyone. We want all of our loved ones to be a part of it.
